Starting around 3:40 a.m., your adventure begins with a two-hour bus ride to Pitumarca village at 3600 meters above sea level, south of Cusco City. After a brief breakfast stop in Pitumarca, continue by bus for an additional hour and 20 minutes to the starting point of the trek at 6700 meters above sea level, for about 30 to 50 minutes. Begin a 45-minute ATV ride to reach the 5050-meter-high point, offering breathtaking views of rainbow hues and snow-capped peaks. Take your time to relax, capture stunning photographs, and savor the splendor of this extraordinary location.
Following the ATV ride, return to the trek’s starting point for another 30 to 50 minutes to board the bus back to Pitumarca village for a satisfying lunch. After lunch, the journey back to Cusco commences, with an estimated arrival time around 4:30 pm – 5pm.

Itinerary
Details of the Itinerary Rainbow Mountain + ATV tour From Cusco
Our adventure begins with the hotel pickup between 3:00 and 3:30 a.m. We will head south along the Pan-American Highway for approximately 1h30 until reaching the district of Cusipata, where we will enjoy breakfast.
We will then continue for another 30 minutes, passing through Checacupe, Pitumarca, and Hanchipacha, until we arrive at Kayrahuiri around 8:00 a.m. At this point, we will leave the transport and begin the most exciting part of the experience: the ATV adventure. Before setting off, we will do a short practice ride to ensure everyone feels safe.
After that, we will ride the ATVs for about 45 minutes along the Andean trails, surrounded by breathtaking mountain landscapes, until we reach the starting point of the hike. From there, we will hike for 30 to 50 minutes on a gentle uphill trail until we reach Rainbow Mountain. Around 9:00 a.m., we will arrive at the top and have approximately 40 minutes to explore, take photos, and enjoy the unique scenery.
On the way down, we will walk again for another 30 to 50 minutes until meeting the ATVs. We will then ride back for about 45 minutes, this time towards the parking lot, completing the four-wheel adventure.
Finally, we will board the transport back to Cusco, ending the tour in the Historic Center, at Plaza Regocijo or Maruri Street, between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m.
Note:
Our return trip includes an additional one and a half hours to the district of Cusipata, where we will enjoy a buffet lunch between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. at the designated restaurant. After lunch, we will continue back to Cusco in another one and a half hours, finishing at Plaza Regocijo, where we will say goodbye.
Extra Option:
We can also offer the option of riding ATVs to the Red Valley, in addition to Rainbow Mountain. This route takes about 45 minutes (a little longer than the classic one), but the scenery is phenomenal, different, and even more attractive. The hiking time will be approximately 30 to 50 minutes (each way). You can choose between the standard route and the Red Valley option, which is truly amazing.

Flexibility
Flexibility cancellation/ change
- Cancel your tour 48 hours in advance and be reimbursed for the full amount of the tour. If you cancel the tour after these 48 hours prior to your tour no refund will be processed.
- The policy to reschedule or to make any amendment allows the update to be made no more than 5 days prior to the date of your tour and it is valid until December 31st, 2025.
- The itinerary may be subject to changes due to unforeseen circumstances, beyond the control of the operator, changes without prior notice.
