ITINERARY
PACKAGE DETAILS | URUBAMBA RIVER RAFTING
The Urubamba river runs from the high Andean mountain range down through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, past Machu Picchu, and further down into the jungle.
The Urubamba is divided into upper Urubamba and lower Urubamba, the dividing feature is the Pongo de Martinique, a whitewater canyon that opens into the Amazon plain.
The Urubamba River has some excellent spots for rafting, depending on the section of the river being done and the time of the year. One of our most popular rafting sections during the season is the “Chuquicahuna– (CHUQUI)” on the upper Urubamba. There are good class III rapids and the water is not polluted like it unfortunately is in the Sacred Valley. This section of rapids is perfect for one day tours, with nice class II, III, and III+ rapids. Along the route are excellent scenic riverside views with big eucalyptus trees and beautiful flowers.
